The Leica M8 incorporates a low-noise CCD image sensor with a resolution of 10.3-megapixels that has been specifically matched to the extreme requirements of high-resolution lenses to guarantee superior photographic quality. And it is fully compatible with nearly all M lenses, making their unique imaging performance available for digital cameras.

The controls and functions of the digital M8 concentrate on the essentials. All the main settings are made in clearly structured menus on the bright 2.5″ display. This allows professional photographers, and amateurs alike, to concentrate on taking pictures, not worry about the multifunction keys cluttering up the camera’s interface.

The modern metal-blade slotted shutter allows extremely fast flash synchronization times down to 1/250 second. The new M-TTL flash technology ensures natural flash illumination through the activation of a metering pre-flash. The auto slow sync function now allows available light exposures without camera shake in aperture priority mode. This virtually guarantees a crisp, clear photo every time.

The 14-megapixel Sigma SD14 digital SLR camera is a standout in the digital SLR market. The Foveon X3 direct-image sensor can reproduce high definition images by capturing all primary RGB colors at each pixel using three silicon-embedded layers of photo detectors. Most image sensors use a single layer of pixels that captures only one color of light per pixel.

The SD14 digital SLR features four JPEG recording modes, from Low quality for web images to Super High quality for 11.6 x 16.5 inch prints. The pictures are then displayed on a 2.5-inch, 150,000-pixel resolution LCD monitor. The top LCD panel tells the photographer information such as resolution setting, metering mode, battery status, and more. It also incorporates an orange backlight for use in low light or dark conditions.

The SD14′s autofocus sensor has 5 focusing points (center, left, right, up, and down) which allows for precise focusing. Selecting the autofocus point can be done automatically or manually by the photographer. To compliment the precise focus, the mirror lock-up mechanism raises the mirror, preventing vibration when the shutter is released. It also boasts a continuous shooting speed of 3 frames per second in super high quality.

Additional features of the Sigma SD14 include a dust protector that prevents dust from entering and adhering to the image sensor, built-in flash with an angle of coverage of 17mm and a guide number of 11, Sigma Photo Pro 3.0 software for RAW image conversion, and much more.
